Dorothy Eleanor “Polly” Kearney Parrish, 83, Snow Hill, passed away on Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

She was born in Greene County on Oct. 22, 1932, to the late Stephen and Edna Sumrell Kearney.

Polly was the rock of her family, her children knew that she loved them with all her heart and truly was a blessing to them.

A service celebrating Polly’s life will be held on Sunday, May 8, 2016, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Seymour Funeral Home with the Rev. Bryan Huffman officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at Seymour Funeral Home.

Interment will be on Monday, May 9, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the Kearney family cemetery.

Polly is survived by her daughters, Rene Savage and husband, Del, of Pikeville, Jerri Mozingo and husband, J.B., of Goldsboro, Kay Bailey of LaGrange, Annette Stevens and husband, Chris, of Goldsboro, Brenda Taylor of Grantham, Frances Parrish of Grantham and Shelby Thornton of Goldsboro; sons, Ray Nelson of Princeton, Ronald Parrish and wife, Connie, of Goldsboro, and Jim Parrish and wife, Sally, of Texas; son-in-law, Jamie Bailey and wife, Debbie, of Pikeville; 20 grandchildren, 37 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sheila Nelson; granddaughter, Kristen Brogden; brothers, James “Dibbie” Kearney, Roger Kearney, Gene Kearney and Melvin Ray Kearney.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be given to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court, Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
