Ola Lee Ricks, 84, died Friday morning, at Countryside Village. She was born in Halifax County to the late Ellis Argo Lee and Annie Wallace Lee and was married to the late Richard Sidney Ricks Jr. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Doris L. Kortes.

A member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church, she was also a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class. She was a volunteer with the Salvation Army, the Neuse Baptist Association and the Meals on Wheels Program. She had previously worked for Kerr Drug Company but retired from Americal as a seamstress.

A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with the Rev. Robert Fulkerson

officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service.

Mrs. Ricks is survived by a son, Richard Sidney Ricks III of Sanford, N.C.; three daughters and sons-in-law, Marilyn R. and Walt Dooley of Lexington, S.C., Patricia R. Butler of Snow Hill and Sidney R. and David Hill of Goldsboro; a sister, Peggy Wallace of Washington, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Lee Butler of Raleigh, Wesley Butler of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Annie and Joseph Shelton of Sumter, S.C., Leslie and Judd Larkins of Charleston, S.C., Lindsey and Graham Wooten of Goldsboro, Bryant Hill and fiancée, April Grace Rains of Goldsboro, and Ashlee and Jason Savage of Willow Springs, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, John Bryant Wooten and Hunter Savage.

The family expresses their sincere appreciation for all of the love that their mother received while in the care of Countryside Village. The staff there truly showed nothing but compassion for her and for that we are extremely grateful.
