RUBY CARTLEDGE

Aug. 8, 1932-April 28, 2016

Ruby was a devout Christian, who stayed active in her church, loved animals, had a green thumb and enjoyed refinishing furniture. These are just a few of the special qualities that represent the life of Ruby Genes Cartledge, 83, who passed away April 28, 2016.

She was born Aug. 8, 1932, to the late Oliver and Clara Wells. Ruby enjoyed working alongside her husband, John, and together they delivered newspapers for over 20 years and worked security at Bank of America.

She was devoted to her family, loved her children and grandchildren and will be missed greatly by all who knew her.

Ruby was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John Lamar Cartledge, who passed away March 10, 2016; one son, Robert Cartledge and two grandsons, Larry and Kevin Johnson, of Mount Olive.

Left behind to cherish her memory are two sons and their wives, David and Daryl Cartledge, of Mount Olive, and Michael and Gail Cartledge, of Belmont; grandson, Tim Johnson, and three step-grandchildren, Justin, Troy and Dale Dreyer; three great-grandchildren and six step-great-grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m., at Gaston Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the service.
