Charles Edward Jones, 84, Kenly, passed away Wednesday morning at Woodard's Care in Goldsboro.
Charles was born in Johnston County Jan. 3, 1932, to the late Raeford Tilmer and Hettie Hicks Jones.
He was retired as an inspector with the North Carolina Department of Agriculture.
Charles proudly served his country in the United States Navy.
A service celebrating his life will be held Saturday, April 16, 2016, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Kenly Funeral Service, with Dr. Timothy Webber officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Princeton.
Charles is survived by his brother, Donny Earl Jones of Kenly; nieces, Faye Gurley Rose (Roger), Connie Strickland Colston (Keith) and Renee Jones Barnes (Scott); nephews, Wayne Strickland (Linda) and Billy Strickland (Nancy); stepnieces, Nell Boyette (Charles), Dottie Hill (Raymond) and Betty Holcomb (Ronald); stepnephews, Larry Bass, Danny Bass and Ronnie Bass; and 10 great-nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Dorothy Jones Gurley, Inez Jones and Lela Jones Strickland; brothers, Tilmer Jones Jr., J.R. Jones, Paul Jones and James Jones; and stepnephews, Wayne Bass and Dennis Bass.
The family will receive friends Friday, April 15, 2016, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kenly Funeral Service, and at other times, at his home.
