LARRY THOMAS "TOMMY" DAVIS

Sept. 22, 1931-March 4, 2016

Larry Thomas "Tommy" Davis, 84, Davie Smith St., passed away Friday, March 4, 2016, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

Tommy was born Sept. 22, 1931, in Duplin County, N.C., to the late William Robert Davis and Bessie Price Davis.

He was also preceded in death by three brothers and seven sisters.

Tommy was a loving and devoted family man, and was a church member of South Rosemary United Methodist Church.

He loved life and was a wonderful and giving person, who loved to make people laugh.

Tommy loved working in his garden.

During his work years, he was proud of his work on skyscrapers in Raleigh, the tunnels in Norfolk and the Roanoke Rapids and Gaston Dam.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Joyce Davis; his three daughters, Vicki Davis Exum and her husband, Jimmy, Debbie Davis Medlin and her husband, Lynn, and Tammy Davis and Tim Ogburn all of Roanoke Rapids; his sister, Louise Malpass of Mount Olive, N.C.; his grandchildren, Jamie Exum, Tommie Exum and Cris White, Kristi Cooke McConnell and her husband, Eddie, Lori Cooke Williams and her husband, John, David Cooke and his wife, Lindsey, Winborne Medlin Walker and her husband, Zane, Elizabeth Rolfe Story and her husband, Tracy, Sarah Rolfe Kerr and her husband, Justin, and Jody Rolfe and Kristen Hammack; and his great-grandchildren, Dylan Exum, Destinee Exum, Janie Exum, Victoria Exum, Peyton McConnell, Matthew McConnell, London Williams, Mackenzie Williams, Stella Williams, Addison Cooke, Brynnen Cooke, Wade Walker, Adalyn Walker, Camden Grey, Trevor White and Natalie Finch.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Halifax Regional Medical Center Emergency Department and the ICU staff at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.

A celebration of life service will be held 4 p.m. Monday, March 7, 2016, at South Rosemary United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sue Owens officiating.

The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 4 p.m. at the church and other times at the home.
