ROBERT J. OVERMAN SR.

Robert Jarrell Overman Sr., 93, Dudley, passed away at his home Sunday afternoon, March 6, 2016.
He is survived by a son, the Rev. Richard "Carroll" Overman and his wife, Ann, of Kenly; two sisters, Lucille Grady of Dudley and Emmiline Johnson of Goldsboro; four grandchildren, Andrew Overman and his wife, Beth, Robert J. Overman III., Chris Overman and his wife, Dawn, and Amy O. Register and her husband, Chip; seven great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Mary A. Overman of Mount Olive.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Aaron and Bell Dunn Overman; his wife, Glennie Grady; a brother, Aaron Overman; and a son, Robert Jarrell Overman Jr.
Robert was retired with Civil Service, were he served as a fire inspector at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base in Goldsboro.
He also served in the Army, and was a World War II veteran.
He was a longtime member at May's Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church in Dudley, and was involved in the American Legion Post.
A service of remembrance will be held Wednesday, March 9, at noon at May's Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Jeff Daughtry will officiate the service, followed by a time of visitation and sharing with family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the church, located at 3831 U.S 117 Alternate, Dudley, N.C., 28333.
