MAJOR "MERLE" SULLIVAN

Merle Sullivan, 77, passed away peacefully Sunday, Nov. 22, in Key West, Fla.

Merle, a native of Wayne County, was a longtime member of Saulston United Methodist Church and a veteran of the United States Air Force.

Merle was born in Wayne County Aug. 12, 1938, to the late Brantley and Agnes Smith Sullivan.

He is survived by his daughter, Kelly Sullivan, and her fiancé, Brandon Pinder, of Key West; a brother, Edsel Sullivan and wife, Sue, of Goldsboro; a sister, Brenda Stanley of Wilmington; nieces, Pam Pate, Natalie Driggs and Tamara Schnell; four great-nephews; and three great-nieces.

The family will receive friends Thursday, Dec. 3, at 6 p.m. at Saulston United Methodist Church, followed by a service to celebrate Merle's life at 7 p.m.

Graveside service will be Friday, Dec. 4, at Pine Lawn Cemetery in Kinston, N.C., at 11 a.m.
