Nov. 26, 2015, Thanksgiving morning, at approximately 7 a.m., God welcomed Troy to his long-awaited eternal home in heaven.

The faith and love he demonstrated to his family and friends will be carried in our hearts forever.

Troy Sedric Coates, 79 years of age, was a resident of 3904 Cobb St. in Garner.

He was a proud veteran after having served in active duty in the United States Marine Corps.

He was owner and operator of Coates Heating and Air Conditioning Inc. in Garner.

His life will be remembered in a graveside service to be held Sunday, Nov. 29, at 2 p.m. at Calypso Cemetery in Calypso.

Survivors include his wife, Audrey Gardner Coates of the home; a son, Micheal Coates and his wife, Kimberly Suggs Coates, of Clayton; a daughter, Sheila Coates McNamara and her husband, Greg McNamara, of Clayton; four beloved grandsons, Ryan McNamara, Bradley McNamara, Brandon Coates and Zachary Coates all of Clayton; a sister, Laura Coates Wade of Pikeville; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Evelyn G. and Garland Starnes of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David Allen Coates and Annie Pearl Whitman Coates; two sisters, Agnes and Effie Mae; and four brothers, Melvin, David Allen Jr., Relma Ray,and Max.
