SANDRA FLEMING EDMUNDSON

July 7, 1960-Oct. 23, 2015

Sandra Fleming Edmundson, 55, Pikeville, was called home on Friday morning, Oct. 23, 2015, after her long, courageous fight with cancer.

The life she lived -- one of grace and Christian love -- could not be diminished by the sickness that she endured.

Her sweet smile and gentle ways will be remembered by everyone that knew her, especially her nephews.

Sandra was born in Wayne County on July 7, 1960, to Lois Herring Fleming of Pikeville and the late Howard Mahlon Fleming.

She was a 1978 graduate of Charles B. Aycock High School as well as a graduate of Wayne Community College.

Sandra worked as a dental assistant with Dr. H.V. Murray III.

Sandra was a beautiful person whose loving spirit and ever-present smile radiated the joy she experienced in living every day of her life.

She was deeply devoted to her family and was happiest when she was spending time in family/friend gatherings or with the "light of her life," her husband, Todd.

In her battle with cancer, she was a constant inspiration, and those who knew her will always remember her joy in living, her laughter, her positive attitude, her caring and loving ways and, of course, her courage.

The family will greet friends Sunday, Oct. 25, 2015, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.

A service celebrating Sandra's life will be held privately on Monday in Pikeville Cemetery with the Rev. Rose Hicks officiating.

In addition to her mother, Sandra is survived by her husband of 26 years, Todd Edmundson; sister, Susan Fleming Tillman and husband, Tony; nephews, Scott McIntyre, Skyler McIntyre and Logan Tillman; and brother-in-law, Mike McIntyre.

In addition to her father, Sandra was preceded in death by her sister, Melissa Lynn McIntyre.

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests memorials be given to Cures for the Colors, Southeastern Oncology Medical Center, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.

The family would like to express their appreciation for the compassionate care provided by Southeastern Oncology Medical Center as well as the many doctors and nurses at the UNC Cancer Center.

Love and heartfelt thanks is expressed to each of you for the love you showed Sandra during her fight with cancer and especially to Dr. Paul Armistead.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfunralhome.com.
