VIRGINIA J. OUTLAW

April 8, 1945-Oct. 17, 2015

Virginia Jackson Outlaw, 70, of Dudley passed away Saturday afternoon at Kitty Askins Hospice Center. Her loving and supporting family was by her side when she went home in the arms of her heavenly father.

A funeral service will be held this evening at 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home with the Revs. Jeff Daughtry and Jim Willoughby officiating. Committal services will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. The family will receive friends following the funeral service.

She was truly a dedicated homemaker and loved her husband, children, grandchildren and great grandchild. She always put them first in everything. She was happiest outdoors working in her yard or garden. She also enjoyed shopping and buying beautiful clothes. She was truly a giving person and enjoyed cooking and sharing with others. She loved sending cards and never missed an occasion until her health no longer permitted her to write.

She was employed with the Wayne County Health Dept., Dr. James R. Lambert, and retired in 2010 from Goldsboro Kidney Center.

She was a member of May's Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church in Dudley. She served as a Sunday School teacher, member of the ladies auxiliary, and the NTO group. She loved her Lord and serving the church.

She is survived by her husband of almost 50 years (Dec. 19, 2015), Jimmy Outlaw; a daughter, Tammy Hayes and husband, Keith of Dudley; a son, Gray Outlaw and wife, Shonda of Dudley; sisters, Martha Davis and husband, Roger and Donnie Byrd all of Calypso; stepsisters, Donnie Ann Sauls and husband, Billy of Goldsboro and Janie Stevens and husband, David of Mount Olive; a stepbrother, Jimmy Lambert of Calypso; sister-in-law, Edythe Blanton, and husband, Arnold of Dudley; a brother-in-law, Bobby Outlaw and wife, Nancy of Dudley; grandchildren, Jackson and Kelsey Hayes, Marshall and Mary Grayce Outlaw, Brittney Massey and husband, Kevin of Grantham; and great-granddaughter, Olivia Massey.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Mary Grace Jackson and stepmother, Abbie Lambert Jackson.

A very special thank you to the volunteers and staff at Kitty Askins Hospice Center for their comforting care during her final days and also for all they did to help her family in any way possible to get through this very difficult time.

Flowers are welcome or donations may be made to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Ct., Goldsboro, N.C. 27534 or May's Chapel Original Free Will Baptist Church, 133 Outlaw Rd., Dudley, N.C. 28333.
