Dorothy Smith Stanley, 82, Mount Olive resident, passed away Monday, Sept. 28.
Her life will be remembered at a graveside service to be held Thursday, Oct. 1, at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Dail.
Her family is receiving friends at the residence, 621 W. Main St. in Mount Olive.
She was daughter of the late Tillman and Pinkie Jones Smith.
Her early working career began at Southern Bank, where she worked for 14 years. From there she gained employment with civil service at Seymour Johnson Air Base as a housing clerk, retiring with 20 years of service.
Surviving are her husband, W. Sherwood Stanley of the home; a daughter, Vicki Outlaw Best of Orlanda, Fla.; two granddaughters, Tonya Best Lee and her fiancé, Ricky Richardson, of Pikeville and Tabitha Best of West Melbourne, Fla.; a sister, Hilda Smith of Mount Olive; a nephew, Tim Whitfield of Mount Olive; and two nieces, Teresa Whitfield Bryant of Goldsboro and Ann Herold of Fla.
