Odell Foss, a 71-year-old resident of the Mount Olive area, died early Saturday morning, Sept. 26, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with pastor Jeff Dail officiating, and followed by visitation. Burial will be Wednesday, Sept. 30, at 2:30 p.m. at Wilson's Cemetery near Calypso.

He was a retired volunteer fireman with the Mount Olive Fire Department.

He worshipped at Mount Olive Pentecostal Holiness Church and had been employed with Young Squire Industries, A.P.Parts and the town of Mount Olive in various capacities.

Odell was preceded in death by his parents, Maybelle Lee Foss Newcomb and Claude Foss Jr., and by a brother, Jerry Foss.

He is survived by his wife, Louise Powell Foss; their five children and their mates, Lorrie Ann Tisdale and Mark Price of Mount Olive, Danny Ray Foss and Lisa Humphries of Fuquay-Varina, Tammy Poole and Jason Gay of Raleigh, Rhonda Whitley and Kenneth McArthur of Mount Olive and Keith and Jacqueline Foss of Knightdale; eight grandchildren, Theodore H. Janzen, Corey James Tisdale, Derrick Ray Foss, Staton Patrick Poole, Jennfier Rowe Whitley, Cameron Whitley, Ethan Foss and Dale Foss; three great-grandchildren, Grayson Scott Whitley, Caleb Isaac Rowe and Grayson Kellen Tisdale; two brothers, Kenneth Foss and wife, Renee, and C.J. Foss and wife, Cheryl, all of Mount Olive; and several nieces and nephews.

Odell is also survived by a special family friend, Dawn Cranford.
