Ray Newell, 69, Goldsboro, went to be with his Lord and savior Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Ray was born in Wayne County, N.C., Sept. 6, 1946, to the late Will Newell and Virginia Evans Newell.
He owned and operated Ray Newell's Roofing Co.
A graveside service will be held Friday, Sept. 25, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Edward Thornton officiating.
Ray is survived by his wife of 50 years, Dixie Bennett Newell; sister, Janice Edwards and husband, Randolph, of Goldsboro; and his nephew, Jimmy Edwards.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and at other times, at the home.
