LESLIE GEORGE SINGLETON

Leslie George Singleton, 71, Princeton, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015.

Born July 20, 1944, he was the son of the late Walter Dawson Singleton and Rena Lanier Singleton.

He was also preceded in death by his loving wife, Gail Worley Singleton, and a brother, Walter Thurman "Buddy" Singleton.

A 6 p.m. funeral service will be held Thursday, Sept. 3, 2015, at Princeton Church of God, U.S. 70 West, Princeton. The burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 4, 2015, in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Mr. Singleton was born in Kinston, N.C./Lenoir County.

He worked at Wayne Memorial Hospital for 26 years.

He was a member of Trinity Church of God of Prophecy in Kenly.

An avid fan of the University of North Carolina Tarheels and Dallas Cowboys, he played football and basketball (No. 44) at Goldsboro High School from 1957 to 1961.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Steve Singleton and wife, Kim, of Princeton; twin brother, Linwood Singleton and wife, Lynda, of Micro, and another brother, Durwood Singleton and wife, Cathy, of Rosewood; sisters, Dorothy S. Mills and husband, Fred, of New Bern and Sarah S. Strickland and husband, Lee, of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren, Katlyn and friend, Anthony, Dalton and fianceé, Elly, and T.J. of Princeton; a great-grandson, Aaron; a future great-granddaughter, Harbour June; a special friend, Sheila Suggs of Princeton; and a special K9 companion, Boo Boo.

The family will receive friends immediately following the funeral service at Princeton Church of God Thursday evening, Sept. 3, 2015.

Although flowers are welcome, the family suggests that contributions may be made in memory of Leslie Singleton to Cure for Colors, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
