IRENE JACKSON PARKER

Irene Jackson Parker, 84, Pikeville, passed away Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at her home.
Irene was born in Marion County, S.C., April 24, 1931, to the late Furman and Levi Carter Jackson.
Irene loved New Life Baptist Church, and was a dedicated and faithful servant her entire life.
She was also a member of Gideons International Ladies Auxiliary.
Irene had a large extended circle of family and friends, and they were all very special to her. She will be missed, but greatly remembered.
A service celebrating Irene's life will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 19, 2015, at New Life Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Varner officiating.
The family will receive friends Wednesday following the service.
Interment will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, 2015, at Greenlawn Cemetery in Dillon, S.C.
Irene is survived by her husband of almost 69 years, L.J. Parker; sons, Anthony Lee Parker and wife, Diane, of Duluth, Minn., and Terry Russell Parker and wife, Margaret, of Pikeville; sisters, Pearl Rising of Shallotte and Castine Rich of Fife, Wash.; brother, Blanton Jackson of Hurlock, Md.; three grandchildren, Joshua Parker, Russell Lee Parker and Michelle Parker; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Larry James Parker; her sister, Katie Mae Rich; and her brother, Jasper Jackson.
Irene's family would like to acknowledge the staff of Community Hospice, particularly Christie and Carol, who had a profound impact on the quality of Irene's life in recent months.
