DONALD LEE "DON" SMITH

Donald L. "Don" Smith, 74, died Sunday at Wake Medical Center in Raleigh.
Born in Washington, N.C., he was the son of the late James Lee Smith and Hix Braswell Daniels, and was the husband of Lillian "Lil" Dilda Smith.
A family visitation and time of remembrance will be held Wednesday evening at 6:30 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
Being a tissue donor, burial will be held in Dilda Family Cemetery in Fountain, N.C., at a later date.
Don was a member of the Waynesborough Model Railroad Club and a past member of the North Carolina Association of Broadcasters, and for 61 years, he enjoyed a career in radio broadcasting, and had been a station manager. He was known in Clinton as Don Smith of the Country Store.
A former Jaycee, he owned The Gospel Melody Shop at the Goldsboro Flea Market, and enjoyed meeting friends and sharing all kinds of music with them.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by two brothers-in-law, Larry Dilda of Fountain, N.C., and Suzanne of Florida and James H. Dilda and Betty of Kernersville, N.C.; several nephews and nieces, including a special niece, Suzanne Passow and her husband, Pat; sons Andrew, Christopher, Matthew and Paul of Fayetteville, N.C.; several great-nephews; a great-niece; and a special friend, Ruby Ellen Wallace.
The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed in Don's memory to the Waynesborough Model Railroad Club, 118A W. Mulberry St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530, or the Wayne County Humane Society, 104 S. Center St., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.
