ANNE ELIZABETH YOUNGBLOOD MCARTHUR

Anne Elizabeth Youngblood McArthur, 88, passed away June 30 at her home in Hickory.

Born July 9, 1926, in Wilson's Mills, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Effie Casey Youngblood and Paul Percival Youngblood.

Anne was preceded in death by husband, Neal Pat McArthur Jr.; brothers, Robert Napoleon Youngblood and Dwight Benjamin Youngblood; and sisters, Margaret Youngblood Hardy and Mary Edna Youngblood.

Mrs. McArthur graduated from Wilson's Mills High School in Wilson's Mills, N.C., in 1943 and Flora MacDonald College in Red Springs, N.C., in 1947, where she was president of her class and was a Who's Who Among College Students.

Mrs. McArthur taught school in Pink Hill, N.C., and Pittsboro, N.C., and later served as a home demonstration agent with the North Carolina Extension Service in Wilson and Wayne counties.

She taught kindergarten in the Protestant Kindergarten Program, and later taught middle school in Goldsboro city schools.

Her favorite job was head of the nutrition program with WAGES.

In 1959 she joined First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro. She served as a deacon and elder, was involved with the Women of the Church, volunteered in the church office and helped with Logos. Anne received the Honorary Lifetime Membership award from the Presbyterian Women in 2008.

Anne is survived by her daughters, Mary Paul McArthur Beall (Byron) of Wilmington N.C., and their children, Garrison (Cassidy), Paul and JuliaAnne Beall, and Neal McArthur Orgain (John), of Hickory, N.C., and their daughter, Anne Orgain.

She is survived by many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held July 9 at 11 a.m. in First Presbyterian Church in Goldsboro.

The family will receive friends following the service in McChesney Hall.
