DOROTHY RACHEL SASSER
March 20, 1922-June 19, 2015
Dorothy "Rachel" Sasser, 93, died Friday morning at Woodard's Care.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Sam and Ethel M. Rhodes, and was the wife of the late Albert Linwood Sasser.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Barry Stallings officiating.
The family will receive friends afterward at the graveside.
Rachel was a homemaker, and was proud of being a charter member of Pineview Baptist Church.
She is survived by a son, Steven L. Sasser and his wife, Betty, of Goldsboro; a daughter, Beverly S. Howell of Goldsboro (whose husband, Robert J. Howell, preceded her in death); a sister, Louise Dale of Goldsboro; two grandsons and their spouses, Brian and Majena Howell and Eric and Jennifer Howell; and her great-grandchildren, Cody Howell, Courtney Howell, Taylor Howell and Walker Howell.
She was also preceded in death by her brothers, Spicer Rhodes, Russell Rhodes, Jim Rhodes and Roland Rhodes.
The family would like to express its profound gratitude to the staff of Woodard Care for the years of constant care afforded to its mother.
