JOSEPHINE FREDERICK

Jan. 30, 1930-June 18, 2015

Julia Josephine Jackson Frederick, 85, Goldsboro, went to be with her Lord Thursday, June 18, 2015, at Rex Hospital surrounded by her family.

Jo was born in Wayne County Jan. 30, 1930, to the late T.R. and Julia Manley Jackson.

She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School, where she met her high school sweetheart, Carlton Frederick.

Jo was a longtime member of Madison Avenue Baptist Church in Goldsboro. She was devoted to her church and the Salvation Army Ladies Auxiliary, and was involved in many activities, where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

Jo also supported her husband in many of his business, singing and charitable activities.

Jo will be remembered for her unconditional love as a wife and mother and a friend to all.

So, too, will she be remembered for her compassionate spirit and soul and her gift of finding joy in doing random acts of kindness for others.

Family was paramount to Jo, and she loved nothing more than cooking a big meal or sewing for her children and grandchildren.

She was the embodiment of love as we have been taught by our savior, Christ Jesus.

Jo was an avid sports fan, who enjoyed watching her family play sports, but especially enjoyed "game night" when she could watch her teams play ball.

A service celebrating Jo's life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2015, at Madison Avenue Baptist Church, with Dr. Robert Fulkerson and the Rev. John Frederick officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

Jo is survived by her devoted husband of 65 years, Carlton Frederick; children, Rick Frederick and wife, Lee, Julia Harris and husband, Bill, Kathy Winslow and husband, Will, and David Frederick and wife Priscilla; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

She is also survived by many in her husband's family, the Frederick's, whom she loved very much.

Although flowers are welcome, memorials may be made to Madison Avenue Baptist Church, 300 S. Madison Ave., Goldsboro, N.C., 27530.

The family will receive friends Saturday, June 20, 2015, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and other times at her home.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
