RAY CARTER

Aug. 31, 1937-June 16, 2015

William Ray Carter, 77, Dudley, went home to be with his Lord suddenly Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at his home.

Ray was born in Wayne County Aug. 31, 1937, to the late William Henry Carter and Rossie Taylor Carter.

He proudly served his country in the United States Navy, and retired from Goldsboro Tire Service after 33 years of service.

The family will receive friends Friday, June 19, 2015, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Ray's life at 11 a.m. in the chapel, with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Willow Dale Cemetery.

Ray is survived by his wife of 51 years, Sylvia Jean Carter; son, Michael Carter of Winston-Salem; daughter, Amy Carter Scott and husband, Andrew, of Goldsboro; and the apples of his eye, his grandchildren, Rianna Scott and Kelsey Scott.

He is also survived by his brothers, Eddie Carter and wife, Annette, and Ronnie Carter and wife, Mary; several nephews; and one niece.

In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brothers, Nathan, Ralph and Johnny Carter.
