J. PATRICK MILLARD

Joseph Patrick Millard, known to many as simply Pat, longtime resident of Mount Olive, passed away early Sunday morning, June 7, at Wayne Memorial Hospital. He was 86 years old.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, and was retired from CSX Transportation after having served for 40 years as a railroad agent.

He enjoyed a long and fulfilling membership at Salem Advent Christian Church in Mount Olive, where he worshipped, and diligently served as deacon, song leader, choir member, Sunday School teacher, board moderator and in many other capacities.

Mr. Millard, whose wife was the late Hazel Grady Millard, is survived by their two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Anita Millard of Greenville and Gary and Tracy Millard of Mount Olive; a granddaughter, Kelsey Millard of Mount Olive (who was his "Sweetie Pie"); and a sister, Bonnie M. Strickland of Rocky Mount.

The good, Christian life that Mr. Millard lived will be celebrated Wednesday evening, June 10, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, to be officiated by the Rev. Calvin Leavitt and Dr. Larry Withrow, followed by visitation. A committal service will be at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 11, at Wayne Memorial Park.
