DAVID HENRY NEWELL

David Henry Newell, 62, died Wednesday at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

Born in Wayne County, he was the son of the late Simeon "Sim" B. and Louise Wiggs Newell.

David was retired as a feed truck driver with Goldsboro Milling Co., and was a charter member of The Eastern Carolina Vintage Farm Equipment Club, where he enjoyed restoring vintage farm equipment and attending farm shows and tractor pulls.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with burial following in Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m.

He is survived by three brothers, S.B. Newell of Pikeville, Edward Newell (Joy) of Goldsboro and Randy Newell (Phyllis) of Goldsboro; four sisters, Eleanor Smith (David), Lillie Holmes, Lois Hannum (Robert Jr. "Bob") and Ann Olive (Bruce) all of Goldsboro; several nieces and nephews; and his special family, Brenda Bradley, and her sons and her grandchildren.

His sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Raye Newell and Edward "Baby" Holmes, preceded him in death.

The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cure for the Colors, c/o SMOC, 203 Cox Blvd., Goldsboro, N.C., 27534, or the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 102454 Atlanta, Ga., 30368-2454.
