Mrs. Alma Shelby Dean Crowder Lawson, often known as "Deanie," died Thursday, April 29, at the age of 78.

She was the daughter of the late George Thomas Crowder and Sarah Estelle Morgan Crowder, and is survived by two daughters, Sharon Lawson Bain (C. Ridley) of Lawrenceville and Connie Lynn Lawson-Williams (Ross) of Goldsboro, and two sons, Robert Thomas "Jack" Lawson of LaGrange and Dean Ford Lawson of Goldsboro.

Also surviving are four grandchildren, Margaret Rachel Manning Wright, Morgan Leigh Manning, Amber Lynn Cook and Cory Thomas Lawson; one great-grandchild, Kate Wright; one brother, Dr. Richard T. Crowder (Margaret) of South Hill; and two sisters, Nancy C. Yeary (Harold) of Richmond and Linda C. McLellan (Archie) of South Hill.

Mrs. Lawson was a retired civil service worker, having worked in traffic management.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 2, at Shiloh United Methodist Church, with interment to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at the church.
