NORWOOD RANDOLPH 'RANDY' UZZELL JR.

Mr. Norwood Randolph "Randy" Uzzell Jr., 62, Atlantic Beach, went home to his Lord April 24, 2015.

He was born Jan. 29, 1953, in Wayne County to the late Norwood and Dixie Uzzell.

A private burial service will be held in Goldsboro at Uzzell family cemetery.

He dedicated his life to serving others through public service, and since 1984, had been employed by, and was currently serving in, active roles as president and CEO of Principle LTC, formerly Britthaven Nursing Home, Hillco and Neil Medical Group.

Randy served as chairman of the North Carolina Nursing Home Association, and was currently serving as co-chairman of Carteret General Hospital.

He had been a vital part of healthcare in North Carolina, and his colleagues and mentors will miss him dearly.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 14 years, Dana McQueen-Uzzell; parents-in-law, Peggy Willis McQueen of Morehead City and Danny and Mary McQueen of Beaufort; brother-in-law, Brad McQueen of Charleston, S.C.; nephew Ben, 8; niece, Smith Anne, 6, of Charleston; and his loyal friend and administrative assistant, Bebe Hill of Snow Hill.

In addition to being a wonderful and loving husband, son-in-law and uncle, Randy was an excellent friend, colleague and mentor to all who knew and loved him.

We give him back to the Lord with eternal love and great appreciation for his gift of you to us.

He will be forever loved and missed.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Carteret General Hospital Foundation at P.O. Box 1619, Morehead City, N.C., 28557; Broad Street Clinic, 500 N. 35th St., Morehead City, N.C., 28557; or Crystal Coast Hospice House, 100 Big Rock Weigh, Newport, N.C., 28570.
