ROBERT 'DAVID' MCABEE

Retired United States Air Force Master Sgt. Robert "David" McAbee, 67, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2015.

A native of Gaston County, he was the son of Leona Keever McAbee and the late Carl McAbee Sr.

David proudly served in the United States Air Force during Vietnam and Desert Storm, retiring with more than 25 years of service.

He was an active member of Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church and former scoutmaster of Seymour Johnson Troop 299 BSA.

In addition to his mother, David is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Elisabeth Moon McAbee of the home; children, Benjamin McAbee (Tracey Parris) of Trinity and Jonathan (Dale) McAbee of Gastonia; brother, Carl V. McAbee (Carolyn) of Mount Holly; sister, Susan Johnson (Tim) of Gastonia; and grandchildren, Brandon and Mary Elizabeth McAbee.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at McLean Funeral Directors in Gastonia.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Queen of the Apostles Catholic Church in Belmont, with Father Frank Cancro officiating. Burial with full military honors will be Friday at 11 a.m. in Willowdale Cemetery in Goldsboro.
