JAN LEIGH LANE BARWICK

Jan Leigh Lane Barwick, 52, Pine Level, died Tuesday, March 3, 2015, in WakeMed Hospital in Raleigh.

Born June 6, 1962, in Johnston County, she was the daughter of the late Oscar Clyde Lane Sr. and Doris Ellen Massengill Lane.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Noah Eugene Lane and Jay Dee Lane; sister, Joan Kay Storey; and several half brothers and sisters.

Jan graduated from Smithfield Selma High School, and continued her education at Johnston Community College, where she obtained a degree in criminal justice.

After her graduation from Johnston Community College, she worked as a supervisor for warehouse logistics at B&M Fabrication in Smithfield.

Then Jan and her husband decided to start their own company in 2000, Barwick Auto Transport, where she was supervised by her feline boss, Sebastian Barwick.

Jan loved to travel, and was very passionate about Relay for Life.

If you couldn't find her watching NASCAR Sunday, either in person or on TV, you could find her at the beach doing what she loved.

Jan was affiliated Faith Community Church in Clayton.

She was a devoted wife, mother, grandma, sister, friend and confidant. The joy of her life were her six grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 7, 2015, in the chapel of Parrish Funeral Home, with the Rev. David Sutphin and the Rev. Chris Watkins officiating. Burial will follow in Parker Family Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.

Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Barwick Sr. of the home; son, Robert E. Barwick II and wife, Christina, of Turkey; daughter, Lisa Barwick Taylor and husband, Philip, of Turkey; brothers, Oscar Clyde Lane Jr. and wife, Shirley, of Bunn, Johnny Mack Lane and wife, Lois, of Four Oaks, Jack Lane of Pine Level and James Lane of Clayton; sisters, Janice Powell and husband, Donnie, of Smithfield and Patricia Greene of Winston-Salem; grandchildren, Andrew Wayne Harrell, Tiffany Diane Harrell, Christopher Bryan Barwick, Philip Bailey Taylor, Patrick Lee Barwick and Timothy Ryan Barwick; many nieces and nephews; her bestest friends, Karon and Eddie Taylor of Warsaw and Danny Zaier and Emily Williams of Lexington, S.C.; and feline companion, Sebastian.
