Mrs. Evelyn Howell Croom, 83, 603 Lockhaven Court, Goldsboro, N.C., departed her earthly life Tuesday, March 3, 2015, at her residence.

Evelyn was born in Wayne County Nov. 1, 1931, to the late Mrs. Hattie Raynor Howell and Mr. Joshua Howell.

She received her education in the public school system of Wayne County. Evelyn attended and graduated from Dillard High School in the Class of 1951.

She was employed at Holloway Barbecue, Wayne Memorial Hospital and O'Berry Center of Goldsboro, N.C., where she retired.

Funeral service will be conducted Monday, March 9, 2015, at noon at First African Baptist Church, 803 Harris St., Goldsboro, N.C. The Rev. Dr. Louis S. Leigh Jr. will officiate. Interment will follow in Wayne Memorial Park Cemetery South, 2925 U.S. 117 South, Dudley, N.C.

A public viewing will be held Monday, March 9, 2015, from 11 to 11:50 a.m. at First African Baptist Church, 803 Harris St., Goldsboro, N.C.

Mrs. Croom leaves to cherish her loving and precious memories her two sisters, Rogerlene Howell Bryant and Elizabeth Howell Ford; her special nieces, Bernadette F. Reese and Gloria F. Miller; her special nephews, Joshua (Roz) Howell III, Jimmie (Priscilla) Ford and Charlie Jr. (Althea) Ford; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Monday, March 9, 2015, the family members and friends will assemble one hour prior at 9:50 a.m. at Mrs. Rogerlene Bryant's residence, 406 Hunter Creek Drive, Goldsboro, N.C., in preparation for the funeral procession.

Flowers may be sent to McIntyre Funeral Home, 900 S. George St., Goldsboro, N.C.
