Charles Edward "Chuck" Norfolk, 83, died Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Grenoch, Md., he was the son of the late Hugh and Nellie Mae Griffith Norfolk.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ralph "Buck" Norfolk; two stepchildren, Dale Walden and Gail Walden Neal; and two brothers-in-law, Carlos Lester and John Windsor.

Chuck was a life member of VFW Post 2615 and American Legion Post 11, and was an avid fox hunter and fisherman.

A member of the University of Mount Olive Trojan Club, Chuck was the No. 1 fan of its baseball team.

A service to celebrate Chuck's life will be held Sunday, Feb. 15, at 2 p.m. at the American Legion, with pastor Tom Martin officiating.

The family will greet friends after the service.

Chuck is survived by his wife, Judy Norfolk; a daughter, Debbie Marshal and her husband, Tommy; his stepchildren, Terri Brimberry and husband, Mike, Bobby Walden and wife, Eleanor, and Kenny Walden; brothers, Samuel Hugh Norfolk and wife, Shirley, and Kenneth Russell Norfolk and wife, Betty; sister-in-law, Felicia Norfolk; sisters, Katherine Lester, Sally Stallings and husband, Joseph, Nancy Turner and husband, Thomas, and Betty Jane Windsor; a grandchild, Alice Whaley and husband, Matt; eight stepgrandchildren; and 15 stepgreat-grandchildren.

The family requests no flowers be sent and memorial gifts in his name be directed to the University of Mount Olive Baseball Team.
