Died Dec. 31, 2014

Cynthia Denise Monk, 54, Newton Grove, passed away at home Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, with her family at her bedside after a 32-year battle with kidney failure.

Her legacy will live on as she fought with more dignity, faith, strength and love. She is now rejoicing with her Lord and savior.

Though she will be missed, her memory will live on for she was the best wife, mother, nana and sister anyone could ever ask for.

Funeral service will be Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at 2 p.m. at Mount Carmel Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church in Dunn, with the Rev. Johnny Peterson and the Rev. Don Davis officiating. Interment will be in Monk Family Cemetery in Newton Grove.

Survivors include her loving husband of 37 years, John B. Monk; twin daughters, Kimberly Denise Westbrook of Meadow and Karen LaRose Thompson of Newton Grove; sister, Jewell "Sally" Capps of Goldsboro; brothers, Boots Howard of Grantham, Randy Howard of Wilson and Pee Wee Howard of Goldsboro; and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by parents, Ura Taft and Ethel LaRose Howard, and granddaughter, Destiny Hope Thompson.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home Saturday, Jan. 3, and at other times, at 275 Usher Lane, Newton Grove.
