Vernon Paul Price, 60, Goldsboro, went to be with his Lord and savior Tuesday morning, Dec. 30, 2014, surrounded by his loving family.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro. The Rev. Tony Kopanski will officiate. Interment will follow at Patetown Cemetery.

He was born in Wayne County April 1, 1954, to Vernon H. Price of Eureka and the late Julia Joyce Martin Price.

He was a member of Ray of Hope Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church. He served as a Bible teacher in the nursing home ministry. His love for God was always shown by his smile, laughter and prayers to so many people.

He also spent more than 30 years coaching youth sports in the local community, and actively fundraising for volunteer fire departments in the surrounding areas.

In addition to his father, he is survived by two sons, Vernon Paul Price II and wife , Chrysi, of Goldsboro and Brandon Price and wife, Kesley, of Eureka and their mother, Terry; four brothers, Thomas Price, Larry Price, Steve Price and fianceé, Tanya, and Cleve Price; a sister, Joy Dixon and husband, Billy; and three grandchildren Braylen, Aubree and Arleigh Belle.

In addition to his mother, Paul was preceded in death by his stepmother, Elsie Price.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, Jan. 1, 2015, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro, and other times at 106 W. Main St. in Eureka.
