Bobby Ray Kornegay, 78, lifelong Mount Olive resident, passed away Monday evening, Dec. 29, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A service to remember him and his life will be held Friday, Jan. 2, at 7 p.m. at Tyndall Funeral Home, with the Rev. Jimmy Earp officiating.

Visitation with the family will be during the hour before the service. At other times, the family will be at the residence.

Bobby Ray, a member of Mount Olive Masonic Lodge 208 A.F. and A.M., was retired from the Mount Olive Piggly Wiggly, where he had served as assistant store manager.

He, too, had served in the North Carolina National Guard.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Frances Sloan Kornegay of the home; a son and his wife, Danny and Jo Kornegay of Princeton; twin daughters and their husbands, Pat K. and Buz St. Cyre of Mar Mac community, Goldsboro, and Pam K. and John Best of Mount Olive; four grandchildren, Michael Best and wife, Jenna, of Pikeville, Kelly B. Minnich and husband, Brian, of Liberty, Blake Kornegay of Grantham and Jessica Willoughby of Princeton; and five great-grandchildren, Chesney Best, Tyler Best, Elijah Sittig, Sean Sasser and Bryan Minnich.

Bobby Ray was preceded in death by a great-grandson, John Patrick Best; and his parents, Daniel Edgar and Alma Louise Jones Kornegay, and he was their only child.
