Thelma Howard Turner, 86, Tram Road, Deep Run, passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 2014, at Vidant in Greenville.

She was the last surviving of 10 children born to Jessie and Vera Garvey Howard.

Thelma was a member of Smith's New Home Free Will Baptist Church.

She enjoyed reading, tending to her vegetable garden, quilting, doing puzzles and cooking for her family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James B. "J.B." Turner; sisters, Hazel Jones, Helen Smith, Leatha Byrd, Doris Howard, Hildred Aldridge and Linda Hill; brothers, Thaddeus Howard, Norwood Howard and David Howard; great-grandchild, Annabelle Turner; and son-in-law, Lloyd Sutton.

Thelma is survived by her daughters, Gail Sutton of Goldsboro and Vanessa Turner of the home; sons, Dale Turner and wife, Anita, of Kinston and Dennis Turner and wife, Sissy, of Deep Run; grandchildren, Allison Thompson, Jason Sutton, Julie McClain and husband, Scott, Renee Hollingsworth and husband, Curtis, Tara Malpass and husband, Sammy, Dana Jo Turner, Kristen Norris and husband, Sam, and Keely Hollingsworth; great-grandchildren, Kimber Turner, Chelsea Turner, J.B. Thompson, Gabby Malpass, Gena Malpass, Jeremiah McClain, Hannah Turner and Zoey Norris.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Dec. 30, 2014, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Pink Hill Funeral Home.

Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2014, at Pink Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Pinelawn Memorial Park in Kinston.
