Mrs. Jean Dorion Jackson, 91, longtime resident of Mount Olive, passed away Sunday, Dec. 21, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, Dec. 24, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Mount Olive, with Father James Garneau presiding. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service.

Mrs. Jackson, widow of James E. Jackson, was a retired seamstress, and was a longtime employee of Belk-Tyler in Mount Olive.

This longtime member of St. Mary's Church had served as its organist and choir director for many years.

She is survived by six daughters, Denise Cole and husband, Tony, of Pink Hill, Barbara Livingston of Mount Olive, Lynette Matthis of Clinton, Carol Whaley and husband, Buster, of Mount Olive, Debbie Tyre and husband, Danny, of Hahira, Ga., and Jackie Smith and husband, Pete, of Jacksonville, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; a sister-in-law, Beulah Jackson of Mount Olive; and her special church family at St. Mary's.

In lieu of flowers, it is requested that memorial gifts be made to St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Mount Olive, N.C., 28365.
