MARIE CRAWFORD CARTER

Died Nov. 19, 2014

Marie Crawford Carter, 60, passed away on Nov. 19, 2014 after a brief illness.

Marie was the daughter of the late Elbert and Lucy Crawford of Goldsboro.

Marie graduated from Atlantic Christian College in 1980 with a degree in English literature, and spent her professional career working with both the office of the District Attorney in Greenville and Raleigh, and later, as Judicial Secretary to Judge A. Thomas Small with the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of the Eastern District of North Carolina.

In 2001, Marie and the family relocated to Clemson, S.C., where she did volunteer work for the Clemson United Methodist Church and the Oconee Medical Center.

Marie is survived by her husband, Jerry, of the home; son Matthew of Charleston, S.C.; brother, Gordon Crawford and wife, Lee, of Raleigh; sister Patrice Roesler and husband, David and niece Heidi, of Raleigh; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Janice and Johnny Liles, of Emerald Isle; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Douglas and Diann Carter, of Knightdale.

A memorial service to celebrate Marie's life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 23 at the Clemson United Methodist Church, Clemson, S.C.

The family will receive friends at the church immediately after the memorial service.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Marie's memory to the Clemson United Methodist Church or the Cottingham House Hospice Facility located in Seneca, S.C.
