DAVID H. PATE

June 1, 1983-Nov. 12, 2014

David Handley Pate, 31, Pikeville, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, Nov. 12, 2014 at the University of North Carolina Hospital at Chapel Hill surrounded by his family.

David was born in Wayne County on June 1, 1983 to Handley F. Pate, Jr. and Mary Batten Pate of Pikeville. He was a very strong believer in Jesus Christ and felt that nothing was impossible when you place your trust in God.

His faith gave him the courage to face anything in life. David was attending The First Pentecostal Holiness Church and was currently serving as an usher.

He was also a man of many talents, from being excellent at his job as an electrical lineman with MasTec to enjoying cooking, golfing, fishing, hunting and driving a tractor.

David was larger than life and every life he touched he changed. Most importantly to David was his family. David worked so hard to make sure his wife and son were well taken care of. David was the best daddy, who will be truly missed.

The family will receive friends Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014 from 1 to 3 p.m. at The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, followed by a service celebrating David's life at 3 p.m. in the sanctuary with Rev. Bill Rose, the Rev. Christian Powell and the Rev. Wayne Browning officiating. Interment will follow in the Pate family cemetery.

In addition to his parents, David is survived by his wife, Stephanie Pernell Pate; a son, Micah Handley Pate; sisters Angela Patterson and husband, Mike, of Texas, Brenda Evans and husband, Rex, of Michigan, and Cindy Jarrard and husband, Chad, of Winston-Salem; and several nieces and nephews.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to the Micah Pate Educational Fund, in care of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church, 1101 The First Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C. 27534.

Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.seymourfuneralhome.com.
