RUTH O. PARRISH

Ruth Outland Parrish, 89, Goldsboro, went to be with her Lord Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Ruth was born in Johnston County Jan. 28, 1925, to the late James Milton Outland and Isabell Little Outland. She was married to the late Henry Herbert Parrish Sr.

Ruth's life was filled with humility, kindness and a love for others that she displayed every time she smiled. She dedicated her life to serving her family unselfishly and to serving her Lord.

Ruth was a member of Bizzell Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church for more than 50 years, where she served on the church board and women's auxiliary, taught Sunday School as an adult and sang in the choir for many years.

After moving to Goldsboro, Ruth became a member of The First Pentecostal Holiness Church.

She was always on call to give an encouraging word or helping hand. She enjoyed life especially her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 7, 2014, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home, followed by a service celebrating Ruth's life at 2 p.m. in the chapel with the Rev. Bill Rose officiating. Interment will follow in Bizzell Grove Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

Ruth is survived by her sons, Henry Herbert Parrish Jr. and wife, Lynn, of Rocky Mount, Ricky S. Parrish and wife, Renee, of Goldsboro and Ronnie L. Parrish of Goldsboro, and daughter, Linda Campbell and husband, Dan, of Winterville.

She is also survived by many loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews whom she loved very dearly.

In addition to her husband and parents, Ruth was preceded in death by a daughter, Tonia Jo Parrish; sisters, Lucille Woodall, Myrtle Love and Golden Griffin; her brothers, Albert Outland and Carl Outland; and her stepmother, Bertha Edgerton.

With loving gratitude, we thank the doctors and nursing staff on the sixth floor at Wayne Memorial Hospital, as well as the incredible guidance, wisdom and support of Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
