William Wesley Evans Sr., 92, Goldsboro, passed away Saturday, Oct. 11, 2014, at his home surrounded by his family.

Mr. Evans was born in Duplin County April 4, 1922, to the late Benjamin Franklin Evans and Ella Mae Pate Evans.

He retired from Cherry Hospital, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Wayne Memorial Park with military honors. The Rev. Lewis Forsythe will officiate.

The family will receive friends following the service at the cemetery.

Mr. Evans is survived by his wife, Jacqueline Brinson Evans; daughters, Pamela Sue Evans and husband, Jerry, of Goldsboro and Brenda Darlene Gipson and husband, Jimmy, of Goldsboro; sons, Johnny Hollingsworth and wife, Claudia, of Warsaw, William W. Evans Jr. and wife, Rita, of Goldsboro and Michael Evans of Goldsboro; sisters, Pauline Baker of Farmville and Gladys Brown of Chinquapin; six grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two granddogs.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Norman P. Evans, George Davis Evans and Thurman Franklin Evans; his grandson, William A. "Tony" Evans; and his granddaughter, Roxie Michelle Evans.
