DEACONESS ERNESTINE H. CHAVIS
Funeral services for deaconess Ernestine H. Chavis are scheduled for Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, at 11 a.m. The service will be held at Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, located at 1108 Rosewood Road, Goldsboro, N.C. The burial will follow in Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery. The Rev. Ernest Howell will deliver the eulogy.
Deaconess Chavis leaves to celebrate her legacy her husband of 52 years, deacon James A. Chavis Sr.; four children, Beverly (Odell), Deborah, James Jr. (Tracey) and Donna (Robert); 13 grandchildren, James, Darren II, Marcus, James Arthur III, Alexis, Myles, Jewel, Dorya, Robert Jr., Ava, David, Calvin and Tecumseh; three sisters, Ina Gloria, Dr. Betty H. Gray and Mary H. Hickman; many special cousins, including Hilda, Roosevelt and Amaziah; special godchildren, Byron and Barbara; and a host of many nieces, cousins, nephews, aunts, uncles, extended family members, students and many other special people whose lives she touched.
Deaconess Chavis will have a time of visitation Monday, Oct. 6, 2014, from 10 to 11 a.m. This visitation will also be held at Barnes Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
Service is being handled by Stevens Funeral Home, 1820 Martin Luther King Jr. Pkwy., Wilson, N.C.
