DURWOOD O. SMITH

Durwood O. Smith, 85, Pate Farm Lane, passed away Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday evening, Sept. 3, 2014, at 6 p.m. from the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends following the service.
A graveside service will be held Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Pate Cemetery.
Mr. Smith was born in Wayne County Feb. 17, 1929, to the late John and Maude Tyndall Smith.
He was a member of Stoney Creek Free Will Baptist Church.
He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Pate Smith; two sons, Don Oliver Smith and George Pate Smith of Goldsboro; a daughter, Starr Elizabeth Lupton of Goldsboro; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Clifton Smith, and three sisters, Alene Smith, Doris Hicks and Dolly Yelverton.
The family is in the care of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
