Betsy Best Piner, 81, Savannah, Ga., went to be with her Lord and savior July 31, 2014, at Spanish Oaks.

She was born in Goldsboro, N.C., and was preceded in death by her parents, Clifton R. Best and Doris Parks Best; a sister, Audrey Best; and a twin brother, Waite T. Best.

She was a graduate of Goldsboro High School, and a graduate of East Carolina Teachers College Greenville, N.C., (now East Carolina University) with a bachelor's degree in business education.

She had lived in Savannah since 1955, and was a member of Whitfield United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday school.

She worked for the Chatham County Board of Education for 30 years, where she served as a business teacher at Savannah High School and Tompkins High School from 1975 to 1998.

She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by a son, Daryl Piner (Ashley) of Guyton, Ga.; best friend for more than 45 years, Catherine B. Williams of Savannah, Ga.; and brother, Horace L. Best (Betty) of Goldsboro, N.C.

Visitation was 2 to 3 p.m. Monday Aug. 4, 2014, at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with the Rev. Clifford Coursey officiating.

Funeral services were 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 4, 2014, in Hubert C. Baker Chapel, with interment in the Greenwich section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
