JERRY LEWIS RORRER

March 16, 1947-June 1, 2014

Sunday afternoon, June 1, 2014, Jerry Lewis Rorrer, Mount Olive, 67, passed away at home in Clayton, N.C. Jerry passed away peacefully surrounded by his family after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Jerry was born in Point Pleasant, W. Va., March 16, 1947, to George and Lucille Rorrer. He was the 10th of 12 children.

Jerry was a truck driver until his retirement in 2010.

He loved to spend time with his family and play with his grandchildren. To him, a happy home was filled with the noise and love of his family, which is how he spent his last days. He will be greatly missed by us all.

Jerry was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Ann Rorrer.

He is survived by his three children, Angie Whitfield, Shanda Schroeder and Jeremy Rorrer; his brother, George Rorrer; his sisters, Alice Hopson, Carol Kosher and Debi Summers; and 11 grandchildren, Cody Whitfield, Trey Whitfield, Kayley Whitfield, Ashlyn Whitfield, Landon Schroeder, Britney Schroeder, Emalyn Schroeder, Jasper Wilmoth, Izabella Wilmoth, Imogen Rorrer and Rowan Rorrer.

A service will be held to celebrate his life Saturday, June 7, at 2 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church at 489 N.C. 55 in Mount Olive, N.C. A private graveside service for the family will follow.

Flowers and memorials may be sent to Unity Baptist Church Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday. Please call 919-429-0784 to confirm someone will be there.
