ELLEN HOWELL SMITH

Ellen Howell Smith, 76, 5627 Wayne Memorial Drive, Pikeville, passed away Sunday morning, May 18, 2014, at home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
The family will receive friends following the service.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 21, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Snow Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Smith was born in Greene County Feb. 22, 1938, to the late Roy and Rosa Radford Howell.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Boyd Smith, and a sister, Vivian Howell Smith.
She is survived by her son, Randy Smith of Pikeville and his girlfriend and Mrs. Smith's caregiver, Deloris Sheehan; two brothers, Garland Howell and wife, Grace, of Snow Hill and Willie Howell of Snow Hill; sister, Margaree Brown of Snow Hill; three grandchildren, Neil Smith and wife, Amanda, Blake Smith and wife, Amy, and Heath Smith and wife, Courtney, all of Pikeville; and four great-grandchildren, Kacey, Kellie, Hannah and Hailey all of Pikeville.
Mrs. Smith is also survived by several nieces and nephews, and a special thanks to her niece and caregiver, Trena Evans.
Services are entrusted to Howell Funeral Home and Crematory in Goldsboro.
