WILLIAM E. HARPER SR.

William Earl Harper Sr., 70, Four Oaks, passed away Wednesday at Kitty Askins Hospice Center surrounded by his family after a long battle with cancer.
William was born in Wayne County, N.C., Jan. 24, 1944, to the late Carlie T. Harper and Mildred Royal Harper.
He was a retired roofing contractor.
A graveside service was held Friday at 11:30 a.m. at Pikeville Cemetery, with Delaine Tucker officiating.
William is survived by his wife, Julia Tucker Harper; sons, William Earl Harper Jr. of Wayne County and Michael James Harper of Four Oaks; daughter, Lisa Gail McGill and husband, Kenneth, of Kevil, Ky.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren, with another on the way.
He is also survived by his brother, David Harper and wife, Vicki, of Panama City, Fla., and his sister, Sandra Harper Gardipe of Milwaukee, Wis.
William was preceded in death by his sister, Jewel Harper Holloman.
The family received friends Friday from 10 to 11 a.m. at Seymour Funeral Home and Cremation Service, and at other times, will be at the home of Joe Tucker, 546 Providence Church Road, Goldsboro, N.C.
