JAMES D. SILVERTHORNE SR.

James "Jim" D. Silverthorne Sr., 73, Wilson, passed away Wednesday.
A graveside service will be conducted 11 a.m. Friday, April 25, 2014, in Oakdale Cemetery in Washington, N.C. The Rev. Charlie Mike Smith will officiate.
Jim graduated from ACC in 1962 where he was the president of Sigma Phi Epsilon.
He loved living at the beach and spending time fishing.
Jim was a loving father, grandfather, brother and friend to all who knew him. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving are his sons, James D. Silverthorne Jr. and Mark Ray Silverthorne both of Wilson; his granddaughter, Caroline Silverthorne; his grandson, Colby Silverthorne; his sister, Geraldine Newbern of Washington; and his brother, Billy Gilgo of New Bern.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Monroe Silverthorne and Carlyle Walker Silverthorne, and his brother, Rupert Mixon.
