ELSIE HOWELL HERRING

Elsie Gloraine Howell Herring, 89, died Friday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.
Born in Wayne County, she was the daughter of the late Bennie Sr. and Lillian Durham Howell, and the wife of the late William "Bill" Herring.
She was a member of Victory Free Will Baptist Church.
A graveside service will be held Monday at 11 a.m. at Wayne Memorial Park, with pastor Fred Crank officiating.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward Durelle Jr. and Donna Kaye Stapelford-Cannon of Kinston; a daughter and son-in-law, Marjorie Marie and Ronald Leslie Bailey of Atlantic Beach; a brother, Bennie "Rabbit" Howell Jr. of Goldsboro; two sisters, Grace H. Farfour and Renn H. Sauls Whitaker both of Goldsboro; two grandchildren, Leslie Bailey Brock of Goldsboro and Dwayne Scott Bailey of Pikeville; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Frank, Jay and Bud Howell, and four sisters, Ester Howell, Delma H. Ingram, Loyce H. Mihalka and Bessie H. Holmes.
