RETIRED LT. COL. GEORGE 'JEFF' F. MACQUEEN

DUDLEY -- Retired Lt. Col. George "Jeff" Foster MacQueen, 80, Dudley, passed away Friday at his residence.

He was the son of the late Donald and Mable MacQueen, and was the husband of Beverly MacQueen for more than 60 years.

He was retired from the United States Air Force as a B52 pilot. He also flew EB66 aircraft in support of fighters in Vietnam, and was a B52 instructor pilot.

He was also a United States Air Force Jr. ROTC instructor at Needham Broughton High School in Raleigh.

Mr. MacQueen earned his undergraduate degree in political science with honors at Oklahoma State University and his master's degree at Inter-American University in Puerto Rico.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at noon at New Life Baptist Church, with the Rev. Ron Varner and the Rev. Rick Mondell officiating. Committal services with full military honors will follow at Wayne Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

In addition to his wife, Mr. MacQueen is survived by his children, Sheryl Donaldson and husband, Charles, of Asheville, N.C., Dr. David Brent MacQueen and fiancée, Barbara, of Foster City, Calif., Kevin Foster MacQueen and wife, Lisa, of LaGrange, N.C., and Tracy Bass and husband, Kenny Wayne, of Plainview, N.C.; a sister, Shirley Yost of Woodward, Okla.; five grandsons, Jason Turney, Shyama Donaldson, Mark Donaldson, Serge Donaldson and James Frost; a granddaughter, Taylor Bass; a great-granddaughter, Sloan Donaldson; and Katie, his toy poodle.
