ERLENE H. BRYAN

April 4, 1940-Jan. 23, 2014

Erlene Head Bryan, 73, was called home on Thursday, Jan. 23, 2014, after a valiant fight with cancer. The life she lived, one of grace and Christian love, could not be diminished by the sickness that she endured. Her sweet smile and gentle ways will be remembered by everyone who knew her.

Erlene was born in Wayne County on April 4, 1940, to Eleanora Kleinert Head of Grantham and the late Paul Head. She was married to the late Luby Bryan.

Erlene retired as a teacher with the Wayne County Public Schools after 30 years of service. She was a member of the Retired Teachers Association and the Delta Kappa Gamma Sorority. Erlene was a member of Love Memorial Baptist Church. She was devoted to her church and was involved in many activities where she utilized her gifts and abilities to share the love of God.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at Wayne Memorial Park, with the Rev. Richard Toler officiating.

In addition to her mother, Erlene is survived by her loving son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Gina Bryan of LaGrange; grandsons, Luke Bryan and Jonathan Bryan; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Eugene and Linda Head and Norwood and Jane Head, all of Grantham; and her brother-in-law, Earl Dunbar of Grantham.

In addition to her husband and father, she was preceded in death by her son, Byron Luby Bryan, and her sister, Barbara Dunbar.

Flowers are welcome or memorials may be made to Love Memorial Baptist Church, 192 Woodland Church Road, Goldsboro, NC 27530.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014, from 3 to 5 p.m. at Seymour Funeral Home.
