Dr. WILLIAM B. CROMER

LAGRANGE -- Dr. William Browning "Dr. Bill" Cromer, 82, LaGrange, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013.
Bill was born Nov. 16, 1931, in Charlotte to the late Buford Bradley Cromer and Mary Elizabeth Browning Crane.
Dr. Cromer graduated from Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in 1956.
He practiced general medicine in Richardson, Texas, for 25 years, and came to North Carolina in 1981, where he served as medical director at Caswell Center for 20 years.
In the early 1990s, Bill and John Moore formed Morcom Medical Consultants PLLC. They contracted with different ICF/MR facilities and/or group homes across the state to provide medical care for the developmentally disabled population.
They currently provide care to 800 individuals in North Carolina. They also provide medication management services for individuals receiving outpatient mental health.
Dr. Cromer currently was the medical director, and was involved in the company's daily operations.
Bill loved antiquing and traveling. He had a tremendous appreciation for older things. He loved the history behind his antiques and the craftsmanship of things built long ago.
"Dr. Bill" loved telling a good joke, enjoyed needling family and friends and was quite the jokester. He always exhibited a positive attitude and looked for the best in others.
"Dr. Bill" was a keen diagnostician and a perfectionist in every sense of the word.
A memorial service will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 3 p.m. at Rouse Funeral Home, with pastor Wayne Brown officiating.
Dr. Cromer is survived by his wife of 10 years, Sandra Hooten Cromer; four children, Kevin Browning Cromer of Garland, Texas, Kamela Ann Cromer Wilkinson and husband, Bill, of Dallas, Texas, Bradley Smith Cromer and wife, Dawn, of Kinston and Alfred Lee "Bo" Melton of Durham; sister, Mary Ann Brittain of Raleigh; Sandra's three children, Joshua Mewborn and wife, Kari, of LaGrange, Jaimie Mewborn of Cary and Jacob Mewborn of LaGrange; 10 grandchildren, Cooper Cromer, Jack Wilkinson, Jonah Mewborn, Summer Melton, Cole Wilkinson, Drew Mewborn, Sloan Melton, Levi Mewborn, Cason Cromer and Lily Wilkinson; his antiquing buddies, Brian Rose, Lonnie Thigpen and Robert Gardner; along with his care companions, Robin Eury, Dallas Sutton, Robin Germond, Darin Jenkins and Shelby Clark.
The family will receive friends Friday following the memorial service.
