Cynthia Votano Hilvar, 93, died early Saturday morning at Kitty Askins Hospice Center.

Born in Long Island, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late John Votano and Anna Marion Severino Votano.

A service to celebrate her life will be held Friday at 3 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home, with deacon Webster James officiating. Burial will follow in Wayne Memorial Park.

Family members will greet friends Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at Shumate-Faulk Funeral Home.

She is survived by her sons, Richard J. Hilvar of Fort Walton Beach, Fla., and Michael G. Hilvar of Niceville, Fla.; three daughters, Debra H. Williams of Raleigh, Donna H. Brown of Semi Valley, Calif., and Dianna H. Chase of Dudley; two brothers, Gene Votano of Massachusetts and Frank Votano of West Palm Beach, Fla.; 17 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be directed to Kitty Askins Hospice Center, 107 Handley Park Court Goldsboro, N.C., 27534.
