GREENSBORO -- Peggy Wolfe Mebane, 80, died peacefully at her home Tuesday, Dec. 3, 2013.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, at Hanes Lineberry Funeral Home, 515 N. Elm St. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery.

Peggy was born in Mount Olive, N.C., Jan. 13, 1933, to the late Arthur and Myrl Wolfe.

She was preceded in death by her brother, James Wolfe, and her sister, Edna Wolfe Williford.

Peggy was a graduate of Women's College (University of North Carolina at Greensboro) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in education, which led her to a beloved profession of teaching elementary school children in Guilford and Rockingham counties.

In addition, she was an avid tennis player and community volunteer with the Junior League of Greensboro, the Debutante Club of Greensboro and the American Red Cross.

Peggy is survived by her children, Vickie Mebane Kindl (James) and Molly Wolfe Mebane of Greensboro; grandchildren, Bett Faircloth (Chad), Katie Kinney (Joe), William Anderson and Thomas Anderson (Monica); two great-grandchildren; two nieces, Kappie Yates (Mark) and Peggy Dee Williford (Deb Crater); a nephew, James Wolfe (Rita); and dedicated friend of many years, Mary Baynes.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
